Welcome to this week’s show. In this week’s show I will be sharing with you 5 of my favorite fertility focused books, films and documentaries. I love watching films and reading for both my work but also in my much needed downtime. So, next time you are looking for more information or just fancy a cozy night in, perhaps consider one of the following.

One more shot.

Their own honest, emotional and very real documentary that shows a  filmmaker couple Maya Grobel and Noah Moskin and their efforts to start their family. The film documents the highs and lows of their fertility journey and gives a real, unglamourous view of the reality of making a baby when you can’t just do the baby dance like everyone else.

Romeo Romeo. Romeo Romeo is a 2012 film documentary that follows the journey of Lexie and Jessica as they try to make a baby. We have access to every aspect of their lives as they try to negotiate the difficulties of IVF whilst maintaining their relationship and lives outside of fertility treatment. Excellent watch for anyone in the LGTB community but also just very good for anyone considering IVF.

It Starts with the Egg: Rebecca Fett, is a science writer with degrees in molecular biotechnology and biochemistry and in her fantastic book she talks us through how you can improve egg quality in three months. Well worth the read and would go well with a 12 week training programme.

The Easy Bit: This 2019 documentary which can be found on Youtube

shows the impact of fertility treatment from the male perspective. Six men talk us through their own experience of the IVF process, everything from egg collection to the two week wait to test day. Interesting, insightful and very important  to hear from the male perspective.

Fertility and Me: Alex Jones becomes aware of the issues surrounding infertility and she leads the way in investigating the science behind fertility treatments and the real impact this has on people’s lives.  This documentary shows real people doing their best to manage fertility treatment and start their own family. Available to watch on Sky.
